This was for my art exam years ago, I thought I would submit it anyway.
The main idea behind this was taken from the Greek myth of Icaarus, who flew too close to the sun and the wax melted thus plummeted to the ocean below. I took this idea and instead used the possibility of the paper burning, but never really got round to that for obvious reasons.
The paper was cut into feather shapes, then folded in half to make a '^' like shape, this gave the wings volume, then more feathers were able to tessellate and be placed over and under these '^'s to produce the wing structure. Different sizes were obviously used at different segments of the wing varying effect and volume. Wing sizes spanned from A1 - A6. The basic skeletal part of the wings were made from cardboard cut into the simple basic shape and the feathers were glued on.
The basic theme this topic investigated was wings and feathers. I really enjoyed making this, I used 11 different shapes and styles of feathers, of which consumed through quite a lot of paper. The wings are about twice my arm length from shoulder-to-tip.
Look in my gallery for other angles of the wings. Sorry about the poor quality, I blame the scanner.
It wasn't too hard really, I folded the feathers in half so it made a "V" Shape then i was able to place other feathers underneath them and so on and so on, to produce it

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
This is YOUR opportunity to mock, ridicule and generally take great delight and amusement whilst poking fun at the beloved Volunteers and Staff of deviantART.
